R5 and R6 are two good-quality cameras from Canon for any kind of photography, like sports, action, studio portraits, landscapes and wildlife. They have some Similarities and differences, below I have mentioned all of them, hope It will help you to make your Decision.

What is Better in R5 What is Better in R6

  • Canon R5 consists of 45 megapixels resolutions with a CMOS sensor, whereas Canon R6 has only 20 Megapixels with the same sensor. It means you will get additional 25 megapixels which gives you more detailed images.
  • 1.6 times cropping mode of R5 enlarges the main target without reducing its resolution quality, which is not provided in R6.
  • Both devices can make 4K videos, but the 8K recording quality of Canon R5 places it one step ahead of Canon R6. It offers you the freedom to record and edit without reducing its quality.
  • R6 gets overheated while creating 4K videos. In contrast, it’s not going to happen to Canon R5. You can make 4K and 8K videos smoothly and seamlessly for a long time.
  • R5 has a custom video mode that allows you to shoot videos at 25, 50, and 100 fps with the correct shutter speed, which is not given in R6.

  • R6 leaves R5 behind in the race for ISO. The R6 ISO range is 100 to 102400 and can be expanded to 204800. In contrast, R5 starts from 100 to 51200 and can be extended to 102400
  • R6 is slightly better than R5 for night photography because its higher ISO creates fewer but larger pixels that help you to get better results.
  • Extra battery life means extra shots. Canon R6 lets you capture images from 380-510 times per charge, whereas R5’s battery dies after taking photos from 320-490.

Between these two, only one thing keeps R6 slightly ahead of R5, which is the ISO range. If you are looking for only night photography, then R6 should be your choice, But if you are looking for The Best overall, then R5 Will be the best option.
